Three Russian fighter jets in Estonian airspace. NATO demands retaliatory action
Online Desk:
On September 19, three Russian fighter jets entered Estonian airspace. Three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets stayed in Estonian airspace for about 12 minutes. NATO has demanded retaliatory action against these fighter jets.
The Estonian Foreign Ministry has said in a statement about this incident that such an incident is unprecedented and reckless. Such an incident has occurred amid increasing tensions on NATO's eastern border.
Russia has violated local airspace four times so far this year. Estonia is calling on Western countries to respond to such reckless behavior by Moscow. As part of this, the country has demanded increased political and economic pressure on Russia.
A few days ago, on September 9 and 10, several Russian drones entered Estonian airspace. NATO's Jet One aircraft shot down the Russian drones.
Western analysts say that Russia's behavior is mainly because it is testing NATO's readiness.
