Bodiat Jamal is a resident of Chirakutha village in Dhubri district of Assam, India. The government has demolished the houses of 1,400 Muslim families in the name of a power project in this Chirakutha village. The land belonged to these Muslim families. Currently, the families are living under the open sky, hanging triphala. Not only this, the government of the country updated the voter list last week. The names of these families have been removed from the voter list. Now these families are living a life of humanity after losing their homes and voter ID cards. For the last seven months, these Muslim families have been subjected to state repression.

Bodiat Jamal is an Indian citizen by birth. But his voter ID card has been taken away for the crime of being a Muslim. Not only Bodiat Jamal, but also Muslims are being deprived of their voter ID cards despite having proper proof of citizenship. Not only Dhubri, but also many residents of Uriam Ghat have had their houses and voter ID cards taken away by the government of the country.  The Muslim population of Assam lives in the remote areas of Assam, i.e. in villages, and because their language is very similar to Bengali, these Muslim families are being tagged as Bengalis. One of the reasons for the similarity of their language with Bengali is that Assam is an Indian state bordering Bangladesh.

Persecution of Muslims is now a daily occurrence in Assam. Assam Chief Minister Hemant Sharma has openly threatened to attack Muslims.

Not only in Assam, but in various states of India, the current government of the country and extremist Hindu organizations in India are perpetrating inhumane torture on Muslims.
