US forms Board of Peace to govern Gaza Strip

Online Desk:

After two years of Palestinian aggression against Israel, a peace agreement or ceasefire came into effect in October last year, brokered by the United States, Turkey, Qatar and Egypt. This was the first phase of US President Donald Trump's 20-point peace plan. It included a prisoner swap, the withdrawal of Israeli commanders from Gaza and increased aid.

The United States announced the second phase of Trump's peace plan on Wednesday.

The United States has announced a Board of Peace to implement the peace plan. Donald Trump himself has become the chairman of the board, including former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. In addition, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump's Middle East envoy Steve Koff, and Trump's son-in-law, the Jew Jared Kushner, and Ajay Banga. All of them will serve as founding members.

The White House says the board will manage and restructure the interim Gaza administration. In addition, the White House believes that the board will play a role in the stability and long-term development of Gaza. More members will be added to the board over time, the statement said.

Meanwhile, the new Palestinian organization to govern Gaza, the Palestinian Technocratic Committee, held its first meeting in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday. The committee will review the second phase of the peace process. Meanwhile, Israeli forces continue to operate in Gaza, despite the war's opponents. The death toll in Gaza has risen to 71,451 so far.
